Here’s where your current Tinder name comes from.

Depending on how you created your account, Tinder gets your name in one of two ways:

1. Your current Facebook name.
2. The name you submitted when you created your account using your phone number.

So if your Facebook name at the time was “Pretty Princess of Canterbury,” that’s what will register on your Tinder profile.

Or, when using the phone number method, if you accidentally spelled your name as “Jahnathen” when it was supposed to be “Emily” then that’s what will show up on Tinder.

Here’s how you can change your name on Tinder if you signed up using Facebook.

If your Facebook profile says your name is Louis, that’s what will show up on your Tinder profile.

So to change your name on Tinder, all you have to do is change your name on the corresponding Facebook account.

1. Log into Facebook.
2. Change your name on Facebook.
3. Log out of Tinder.
4. Log back in on Tinder so that your name is updated.

How to change your name if you log in with your phone number

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news here.

But if you manually entered your name during account creation, the name you typed in is cemented.

FOREVER. FOR ALL ETERNITY.

I’m not joking either.

Tinder offers no built-in way to change your name if you signed up using a phone number, so you’re stuck with whichever handle you gave yourself. Hopefully, you have no ragrets.

This means that if you need to make changes to your name, your only reliable option is to delete your account and create a new one.

Or, if you have a legitimate reason for the name change, you MAY have a chance by getting in touch with Tinder support. But no promises there.
