What Her Texts Really Mean: Understanding Women Made Easy

Sometimes texting women can seem a little confusing.

Does she like me? Is she interested? Does she loathe me and wish I would swallow a Lego?

After reading this article, you’ll know for certain what her texts really mean so you can understand whether she likes you or not.

In this article:More...

What do you do when you’re unsure of what her texts really mean?

Here’s the first thing you should do when you’re a bit uncertain of what her text means.

Don’t overanalyze.

When we’ve just met someone we like, we’ll try our hardest to win them over. This makes it all the more upsetting when they don’t give us the response we were expecting. Plus, it turns what should be a pleasant, light-hearted time into a terribly stressful experience because we’ll be looking for the meaning behind everything.

  • Did they take long to reply because they’re losing interest?
  • They’re online but they haven’t replied yet, does that mean she doesn’t like me?
  • Did I seem too intense and needy when I used two exclamation marks instead of one?

This article will help you find out what her texts really mean so you can relax.

So let’s start with some signs she may not be interested.

Important: I know you're sometimes unsure what to text. So I've put together 10 Texts That Always Work. Copy-paste lines that instantly attract her and make her crave your attention. They work and they are free. Just a small gift to get you started. Enjoy! Click here to get them.

One-word answers

Everyone hates this sign of potential disinterest.

One word answers.

One-word answers are minimal effort and can potentially suggest a few things: she’s not interested, she’s testing your patience, or she’s busy.

Here’s some common examples:

  • Lol
  • Hey
  • 🙂

Yuck.

One word replies lean towards disinterest, but it’s not 100% certain.

Sometimes she may just not know what to say. Or maybe your text was hard to respond to.

If you’re unsure, stick with the conversation long enough until you know her brief texts are a consistent pattern. If it turns out that she can’t give you more, then it’s in your own best interest to give your attention to someone who appreciates it.

She hearted your last reply

Is just “liking” your message a response?

Technically, yes. Although it is a little cold. Just hearting a message is the bare minimum, short of leaving you on read.

What does it mean?

It largely depends on how the conversation has been going so far and how well the two of you know each other.

If there’s no reason to doubt her interest, it most likely means that she didn’t know what to reply to your last text, but didn’t want to hurt your feelings by completely ignoring your message. Or the conversation reached a point where it was over, so liking your message was to end the convo.

  • Liked “Just finished making my most delicious mango smoothies. I know you’re jealous ;)” – probably a sign of disinterest.
  • Liked “Cool, have a good day!” – just ending the convo.

To find out what she’s thinking, you should examine how easy your last text was to answer, or if it even warranted a response.

She never asks questions

It could be a sign of disinterest if she’s never asking you questions over text.

Why?

When we like someone, we want to learn more about them. Asking them questions allows you to discover more about them, and maybe even start liking them more.

This is especially true with women, as when they start liking you, they want to know every single thing about you. Where you grew up, what you do for work, how many tiny hippos you think you could take in a fight etc.

But if she’s not asking questions it could either mean she’s not interested or that she wants you to pursue her more.

If it’s the latter, she’s waiting for you to text her so that she can avoid looking needy. Some girls are like that.

As long as she’s replying, she’s enjoying the conversation.

She’s slow to respond

There’s a good chance you’ve experienced this sign of disinterest before.

She takes forever to respond.

Now, let’s be clear: Not texting back immediately after 5 minutes isn’t a big deal. Even a few hours usually isn’t a big deal. But taking a full day or two can be a sign of disinterest.

When we’re interested in someone we put more focus and attention on them. So we’re more likely to respond faster to them. We want their attention.

Sure, some people are insanely busy. Maybe they’re busy traveling, or running a Fortune 500 company so she can be your $uga momma.

But if she’s consistently making you wait for several days, then she’s likely not very interested and leading you on.

If she typically replies within 24 hours, she’s curious and is probably intending to meet up with you if it feels right.

As long as the replies keep coming, it’s likely she’s playing hard to get or simply enjoying the attention. Or she’s just a busybody.

Just be patient.

And if you’re not sure she wants to meet yet but is still texting you back, watch this video.

8 Reasons Why She Texts… But Doesn’t Want to Hang Out!

She says she’ll let you know

This is what she means when she says “I’ll let you know” over text.

If she ever says “I’ll let you know,” to you asking her out, or something similar, you may want to reconsider how interested she is in you.

Most people know their schedule and are happy to make plans when they’re interested in someone.

But some people aren’t as organized, are unsure if they’re interested in you enough to meet, or potentially already have other plans. So they’re not 100% sure of their schedule yet.

That’s where the “I’ll let you know” comes in.

Let’s say you’re having a fun convo, laughs and banter, so you ask her out.

Are you free Saturday to grab 100 fruity cocktails together?

I’ll let you know

Painful…but hope isn’t lost.

This only means maybe.

Although it can be sincere (perhaps because she has a hangover, or she doesn’t know exactly how long her other appointment will go on for), you don’t want to wait for her reply for more than a couple of hours.

The fact is that she’s not prioritizing you.

It’s best to respond with a simple “Sounds good, let me know when you know” and then wait to hear from her.

If you don’t hear from her in a timely manner, say 24 hours, then it’s most likely a sign of disinterest, and you should focus on other women and conversations.

She gives you a tough time

There’ll be times in your conversations when she puts you down or challenges you.

Although it might mean she disapproves of you, it typically means that she likes you and is looking to provoke you to see what kind of a man you are.

It’s her way of flirting.

The best way to respond in these scenarios is to brush her comment off. Be playful if possible. That will show her that you’re not easily affected by her thoughts and feelings about you.

Ew you’re being such a dork right now

You’re only figuring this out now?!?! I’ll try and make it more obvious next time. Anyway (topic change)

She cancels plans at the last minute

Do NOT get butthurt about this next potential sign of disinterest.

She cancels plans at the last minute.

Context is extremely important here.

If someone really doesn’t want to spend time with you, they will usually cancel plans with you. Sometimes even at the last minute. People stick to plans with someone they’re interested in.

However, emergencies can happen at any time. Like, maybe she accidentally lit her sweet grandma on fire. Who knows?!

So it’s entirely possible that her decision to cancel is genuine.

If she’s not playing games, she’ll be apologetic and look to reschedule. If she’s not really into it, she’ll cancel without much of an explanation and won’t attempt to make future plans.

  • “Hey, I have to cancel tonight. Sorry!” – probably not interested
  • “Hey! I’m so sorry but I need to cancel tonight. Could we reschedule for tomorrow or Friday?” – probably still interested.

It’s always best to treat a cancellation as no big deal. It’s attractive when you don’t get upset about it.

She said that she’ll get back to you later

This is similar to “I’ll let you know.”

She may be interested, but she may not be.

It’s somewhat of a polite message, but since the message doesn’t include excitement or a moment in time, it’s not very promising.

Because when people are interested, they’ll show excitement, or will give you a time when they can get back to you.

In most cases, this is a soft rejection.

It’s best to say something like “Sounds good” and then wait to hear from her.

If you do hear from her, perfect! No issues and she’s likely interested. If you don’t, you may want to consider pursuing someone else.

She’s not texting as much as before

This sign of disinterest hurts the most.

When she isn’t texting as much as before.

You started off texting a lot, maybe even had some dates, but you’re starting to notice she’s not texting as much as before. Gone are those paragraphs of her telling you how her day was, only to be replaced by a simple “It was good. You?”

When a girl’s engagement over text worsens, it usually means she’s losing interest.

She may be tired of texting and is wanting to see you, or she’s done because she doesn’t see it going anywhere worthwhile.

In either case, it’s best to do one of two things depending on the situation. (1) Ask her out if you’ve been texting a lot but haven’t yet met up, or (2) tactfully ask her why she’s being distant if you already share a bit of history.

She’ll usually give you an answer about why she’s not texting as much.

She’s doesn’t text you back at all

This is the biggest sign of disinterest over text.

Not texting you back.

If someone really isn’t interested in you, and doesn’t have the courage to tell you they’re not interested, they just won’t respond. It’s an easy way to reject you.

Sure, sometimes life happens and people forget to text back. But if they’re interested in you, they should text you back at some point. Even if it’s days later.

Now, you can always try texting them again. But if you don’t hear back after your second attempt, then it’s best to move on.

The 5 best signs of interest

We’ve covered what her texts mean when she’s not interested. But here are the top 5 signs of what her texts mean when she’s interested.

For more details, check out this video:

She’s being light-hearted

Here’s what her texts mean when they’re light-hearted.

She’s into you.

When her texts are filled with jokes, laughter, and silly emojis, she’s enjoying herself. And when she’s enjoying herself she’ll start liking you more.

So pay attention to the following:

  • Laughter such as “hahaha” or “lol.”
  • Girly emojis like 🙈 or ❤️ and many others.
  • She’s making jokes or being playful.

Once you spot these in her texts there’s a good chance she’s interested in you.

She’s enthusiastic

Once you start seeing THIS, it’s a clear sign she’s interested in you.

Enthusiasm.

Ever heard that enthusiasm is contagious? It’s true. When someone is enthusiastic while talking with you, you start to feel a little better. It’s like they suddenly become more interesting and exciting to be around.

Because we all want to be around people who also want us.

So if you’re texting her and she’s hearting your messages, saying things like “she’s looking forward to seeing you,” sharing about her life, and generally being upbeat in her texts, then she’s definitely into you.

She’s ready to say sorry

What does it mean when she apologizes?

Well, generally, it means she’s a decent person if they’ve done wrong by you.

But it could also mean they’re interested in you.

If someone has made a mistake and they like you, then they’ll apologize, because they don’t want to seem like a bad person in your eyes.

They want you to like them.

So if she’s made a mistake (taking days to respond, canceling a date last minute, calling you an edgelord, etc) and she apologizes for it and wants to make up for it, then she’s still into you.

Everyone goofs once in a while. Take the apology as a sign of interest.

She’s asking you questions

Here’s a simple way to know if she’s interested over text.

She asks you questions.

Girls will spam you with question after question when they’re into you. They’ll want to know more and more about you in order to connect with you more.

So when a girl is asking you lots of questions, understand that she likes you.

She sends you photos and selfies

This is a HUGE sign of interest.

Sending you photos and selfies.

Photos are often more personal than words. Somewhere around 1000 I think…

Did it show an activity she was doing? Was she about to eat the tastiest burger ever? Did she just show herself with a cute poutty look?

All of them have different meanings, but all of them are good news.

It takes more effort and investment to send a picture. So when she puts in more effort, that means she’s into you.

And she DEFINITELY likes you if she sends some variation of spicy noodle pics.

It means that she enjoys showing herself off to you and is trying to win you over with her sultry ways.

What her texts really mean – Conclusion

In sum, here’s what her texts mean.

If she’s flirting, joking, excited, showing a desire to make clear plans, and sending photos, then she’s into you.

If she’s shooting you one word replies, not contributing to the conversation, canceling plans at the last minute, and is taking millenia to respond to a simple message, then she’s more likely not interested in you.

So basically, higher energy texts means she’s interested, lower energy texts means she isn’t.

Hopefully, that clears up what her texts mean so you can understand women better.

Now, sometimes she’s not interested because the conversation is a bit boring. But there are ways to turn that around.
