How to change your Tinder location (using Tinder Passport)

If you don’t want to risk getting banned from Tinder, there is only one ways to change your Tinder location:

Go premium and buy Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold.

Both premium memberships give you a feature called Tinder Passport. That lets you set your location anywhere in the world.

And this is how you change your Tinder location using tinder Passport:

  1. Open Tinder.
  2. Hit the profile icon on the top left of the screen.
  3. Press ‘Settings’.
  4. For Android, tap ‘Swiping in’. For iOS, click ‘Location’.
  5. Select ‘Add a new location’.

From there you can enter a location. And drop a pin to mark your new whereabouts.

Are you interested in Tinder Passport, but not sure if the paid Tinder membership is worth it?

Changing your Tinder location gives you a temporary boost

Once you change your location, Tinder gives you a boost. And places your profile higher in the Tinder stack.

After all, the better time you have, the more willing you are to give Tinder your paycheck.

Now this is different than the the 30-minute Tinder Boost feature.

In comparison to the real deal, your assist is only minor. But it still gives you a bigger chance to match with a cutie.

Here’s how it works.

Once you set foot on foreign soil, or fake your location… Tinder assumes you won’t stay put for long. To make your stay as enjoyable as possible, Tinder takes your profile out of your original position in the swipe stack and puts you closer to the top.

And if you keep an eye on your match & messages screen, you’ll see your likes rise.

You may think you made it into the big leagues. But your success is only artificial. After about 24 hours, your profile will drop down back to where it started.

Unless… You get lots of matches. The more matches you get, the higher the desirability of your profile, and the higher your spot in the Tinder stack.

In short, the 24-hour boost can permanently increase the ranking of your Tinder profile.

Is Tinder Passport worth it?

Tinder Passport is definitely worth it, as long as you…

Frequently travel.

What’s the point of matching with jaw-droppingly beautiful women if they’re 1,000 miles away from you?

You will like Tinder Passport if you fall into one of these categories:

  • If you work far from home. Changing your location lets you swipe ladies close to your neighborhood.
  • If you often go abroad. That way you can arrange dates in your holiday destination before you physically arrive.
  • If you’re curious. Perhaps you’re willing to travel if the international women are fun and attractive enough.

Let’s give you an example to make the benefits of Tinder Passport concrete.

Suppose you’re about to stay in Bangkok, Thailand for a few days.

And your flight is two weeks away.

Without Tinder Passport, your only option to date is to land in Bangkok and:

  1. Fire up Tinder.
  2. Aggressively swipe.
  3. Fire all your matches an irresistible opener. Download the Clickbait opener to get the most effective icebreaker of all time.
  4. Make her crazy about meeting you. Use my 10 Texts That Always Work.
  5. And lastly, set up the date.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get one or two dates before you leave.

But with Tinder Passport, you can complete all the above steps from the comfort of your home. This way you can prepare a date for every day you’re in Thailand.

Can you change your Tinder location without Tinder Passport?

A few years ago it was possible to change your Tinder location for free using IP spoofers that changed your GPS location. And there was even a Chrome extension called Flamite that worked like magic.\

However, Tinder wasn’t happy. After all, the dating app gives the same service to users in exchange for money. With all these IP spoofers, everyone could swipe across the globe for free. So Tinder was losing money. FAST.

Seeing money slip through its fingers, Tinder sent its legal cronies to sue all the spoofers into bankruptcy. And updated its system to prevent any newcomers from entering the black market. Flamite and other GPS-changing apps got shut down.

Although some newer apps supposedly work…

…the punishments are severe.

Tinder loves to drop the banhammer.

So I don’t recommend trying any tools to bypass Tinder’s security systems.

It’s not worth losing your account and having to get a new sim card. (And Instagram and Spotify if you want to hook those up.)

Understanding how Tinder location works (The technicalities)

To know where you are, Tinder tracks your phone.

Tinder’s robots work similarly to parents. Every few minutes, the machines peek around the corner to see what you’re up to.

“Good. He’s still eating Doritos in the basement.”

The checking of your location, doesn’t only depend on Tinder, but also your phone and usage.

Roughly speaking, Tinder measures your position at two different speeds. If you have the app open, the checking is almost constant. Is the app closed, then the robots check your position anywhere between every 5 to 20 minutes. Which is largely dependent on your phone, battery life and other apps you’re running.

So there is no EXACT way to know how often Tinder calculates your location.

Suppose you just flew from Chicago to Amsterdam and are on your way to passport control. You see a huge line and decide to pass the time by swiping.

Because it’s the first time you’ve opened up Tinder since leaving Chicago, you’ll still see a stack filled with Chicagoans. And if your battery life is low and wifi connection poor, it may take half an hour before Tinder realizes you’re in Amsterdam.

Now let’s imagine you ignored flight safety and fired up Tinder as you entered the borders of the Netherlands. If your phone is fully charged, no other apps are open, and your battery settings are set on performance… you’ll be swiping Dutch babes in minutes.

The conclusion? Tinder’s robots are lazy unless you give them lots of power and attention. So it may take a while before Tinder knows your location.

An invaluable tool for your Tinder arsenal

A match doesn’t guarantee a date. First, you have to make her excited to go out with you. And before that, you want to capture her attention with an irresistible icebreaker.

If she’s like most women, she’ll have more matches than she can shake a stick at. And an inbox filled with men screaming for her attention.

To have a chance of dating her, your opener MUST cut through the noise. Luckily for you, it’s not all that hard.

So let me give you a chance to shine, with the MOST effective opener of them all. Which is also childishly simple to execute.
